After having the best school year ever at Sanchez Elementary School. Alicia graduates with high honors from her dual language class. Maestro Blair assigns her to junior high Room 304, where she meets her new 6th grade teacher named Mr.Caruso who is endorsed to teach science. Also, he is bilingual and loves teaching about the universe, physics, natural and physical science. Alicia’s class consists of a diversity of kids from international countries around the world.

During that hot and humid summer of 2033, just before passing on to the 6th grade, Alicia asked her mamita another profound request: Where are we going to spend our summer vacation this year? Well, Alicia, why don’t we take that long awaited trip to Puerto Rico. Alicia simply smiled, chucked, and shrugged and replied, “Claro que sí, mamita.’’ (Yes, of course mommy), let’s take a plane or voyage to La Isla del encanto (The Enchanted Island). Who told you about the other name for Puerto Rico said Miss Runfio. Alicia briefly hesitated and replied, “I’ll just Google it!’’

That summer Alicia and Miss Runfio decided to take a one way flight from New York La Guardia Airport on July 5th. They boarded American Airline Flight 129 on route to Puerto Rico. This would be a long 4.5 hours, 2,500 mile voyage across many southern states. Alicia was so excited that she asked her mamita, “Where is Puerto Rico located?’’ Her mommy explained to her sweetly that we would continue to cruise our way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, until we reached Puerto Rico. What a long and exciting trip! Alicia asked her mamita the million dollar question: “Are we going to see the beautiful flamboyant trees that bloom in early July?’’

Alicia asked her mom, “What about the awesome chirping sound of the Coqui frog!’’ Oh, yeah, mamita! Our first stop on this fantastic voyage will be Old San Juan, which is the capital and major place for entertainment and tourism. On her long awaited trip to Puerto Rico, Alicia keeps a Daily Interactive Journal of all the interesting sights and sounds associated with “The Enchanting Island.’’ She will spend a whole week investigating and researching this “Melting Pot” of beautiful landscapes of flowers, trees, plants, insects, fruits, animals, and of course the language and culture, topography, and history of Puerto Rico from (July 5th-13, 2023).

The translation of the name for Puerto Rico from Spanish to English means Rich Port. Puerto Rico is one of the many islands in the Caribbean Sea. Its topography consists of 100 miles across in width and 35 miles in length.
