We finally arrived at the beautiful City of San Juan Puerto Rico at 1:00 p.m. There is no doubt an hour of time difference between New York and Puerto Rico. Hey, mom, Do you know what time it is in New York City now? Of course, Alicia, it’s noon in the ” Big Apple.”

While Alicia was pondering and nodding on her 4 hour excursion, she began dreaming about The Most Beautiful City. She thought about her secret that she shared with her best friend, Justin about the passing of our beloved ones that even included pets. His answer was quite profound when he replied, “I believe that they go to a special place where people never age, get sick, or die, and that they live forever with their King in a city that never gets dark.”

Just before I could get comfortable for my afternoon nap, my mommy nudged me to wake-up just before falling deeper into my beautiful dream. We had finally approached our destination and landed safely in San Juan.

Upon leaving San Juan’s Airport, she could not believe her own eyes when she saw beautiful palm and flamboyant trees along the Autopista (major highway) leaving from the airport. These were bellisimos arboles (beautiful trees) that adorned the capital like creamy strawberries on a delicious wedding cake. Next, mamita and I took a shuttle bus that drop us off at Priceless rental cars. The prizes there were ridiculous! We waited impatiently in line for about almost two hours due to insufficient workers and spiteful procrastination on the other hand.

The rental agent tacked on too many hidden fees such as road construction and toll fees in the amount of $50.00 for the many tolls that we had to pass through on route to Arecibo in Bayamon, which were located approximately 50 miles from San Juan. Mamita drove us to our temporary residence that was our RB&B located at 119 Calle 2. There we met a nice old lady named Olga who spoke Spanish that was quite different from what I have been taught in school, however, I could still understand and respond to her on a child’s level.

Later on that day, we drove in our Nissan to an elegant restaurant in the suburbs. The name of this diner was called Güira, and I order un plato delicioso de filete de salmón con ensalada y arroz con habichuela. My mom ordered a plate of carnitas with … She asked me if I wanted to order my delicious drink called horchata, but I declined and ordered a caramelized drink called parcha (passion fruit). It was so awesomely refreshing that I ordered it again. We went home that evening and slept like babies in our two bedroom apartment.
